When using Firefox, download and install Extension FlashGot. In the settings for this addon you can choose FDM as default download tool instead of Firefox integrated download manager.
I was in an internet cafe and got 46% through downloading a 287mb file, when the wife said I had to leave. Now I am in a different location, I have tried to resume the download from the point it stopped at. The only option I can see is to restart the download completely. Is there a way of resuming it?

It depends on download type. If the server you downloaded your file does support resuming (most of them) - you can continue from that point. Otherwise you should download it from the beginning.
Depends on your internet speed... Its not FDM's problem... It is the best download manager... Optimize your settings according to your speed... Your download can also become slow due to hyper usage... Don't go for browsing when downloading... There are also some settings in FDM using which you can increase its speed like Light Mode,Normal Mode,Heavy Mode... Don't leave up FDM... Its the best and prevent hyper usage...
To create a Batch Download, you will have to know how the files on the server are stored. For example, as you can see in the image below, I have inserted http://yahoo.com and specified that on the website are stored files beginning from 1 to 100 with the file name file1.txt, file2.txt, etc. Instead of pasting every website, I have defined to automatically download from 1-100 with the *file().txt** as template. The software will download all the files from the result list.
I just updated Firefox to "Firefox 3.0.1.0" and now the downloads do not start up with Free Download Manager like last time. It will go with the Firefox downloads. Can you help?

How to enable auto shutdown option in FDM 5.1? Every time I open the main menu this option is disabled.

I think this option needs to be activated manually in Free Download Manager each time you initiate a download because if you turn it on for permanent use and download multiple files, the PC will shut down way too frequently. What I am trying to say is that the option needs to stay this way to control the shutdown procedure.

The speed at which files are downloaded can vary due to several factors such as file size, internet connection speed, server capacity, etc.
Yes, Free Download Manager is still working with YouTube.
